Every thing in your plate matters
Oxfam has released a report titled “The Hunger Virus Multiplies”. As per the report, eleven people die every minute due to hunger. The report also mentions that the famine-like conditions around the globe is posing a greater threat than the COVID-19.
Silly, isn’t it?
No! not at all. It’s a pity that we are taking our life into our own hands and soon going to be a victim of hunger crisis.
Also, are you familiar with the case of Korea where the government has asked citizens to reduce the intake of food to be able to meet the food requirements in the country?
The country is facing a serious threat of people dying due to hunger.
Food is the vital thing needed to keep our body running. It gives growth, nutrition and the energy to do the work. Most of the activities that we are doing are related directly or indirectly with the food. And without food there is no survival.
In our country there is sufficient stock of food grains for the citizens but still there is a need to reconsider our habits to make sure that we help in the global food crisis.
As the colonies are growing and the population is increasing, there is an enormous pressure on the food suppliers. With the limited resources and contracting fields, it is difficult to meet the requirements.
The cropping areas with the continuous drainage of nutrients and artificial fertilizers is on the brink of desertification. Also, the water table below the earth is taking a dip.
Did you know?
A plate of meal that is served takes almost four months to grow. Farmers risk life and limb every day to feed us.
Then the suppliers, marketers and shopkeepers make their efforts to deliver it to our homes. With the hard-earned money the same is bought and cooked with an all-out effort for a perfect meal.
In spite of such laborious job, the food gets wasted. The quite common and terrible fact is that we waste a lot of food in functions, marriages and hostels. All this extra food is sufficient to feed the starving souls around us.
The irregular distribution of food is the major problem, despite the efforts of government to provide food grains to everyone at a reasonable price, there is a lot of food inequality and malnutrition in our country.
We just need to stop wasting our food and end up eating whatever is in our plates. No government, authority can be blamed for our ill habits. So, if we don’t want to get into the hunger crisis then we need to give it a paramount importance and motivate fellow humans to save food and care for others.
